LEADNow! Leadership Institute
LEADNow! Leadership Institute recognizes that the most important change agents in education are school leaders! This Institute was created to support new and aspiring educational leaders in Southern Arizona in partnership with Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF), Northern Arizona University and the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office.

Through the LEADNow! Leadership Institute, individuals will acquire skills and applications essential to becoming an effective educational leader. Learners will gain enhanced understanding and the ability to apply professional practice, concepts and values in leadership and policy.
The LEADNow! Leadership Institute is a research and evidence-based curriculum that is delivered locally through the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office in a cohort model and based on the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders 2015 developed by the Council of Chief State School Officers. Participants will attend monthly Saturday classes that will focus on team building, leadership skills, goal setting and more. All participants will be mentored by an AEF A+ School of Excellence™ principal and have the opportunity to visit an AEF A+ School of Excellence™ site. Students may earn re-certification hours and/or earn NAU graduate credit (with concurrent enrollment).

The Director: Deborah Bryson, M.Ed.
Deborah serves as Chief Deputy Superintendent and the Director of Leadership Development for the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office. She is the creator and facilitator of the LEADNow! Leadership Institute. Prior to joining the county office, she spent 20 years in the Vail Unified School District. She served for 16 years as a school principal and later as a Director of the Beyond Textbooks program which supports over 100 districts statewide. Schools under her leadership earned three distinguished AEF A+ School of ExcellenceTM Awards. In 2011, Deborah was named as the National Distinguished Principal of the Year by the National Association of Elementary School Principals. Her career as an educator has spanned over 30 years in our community.
The Coordinator: Susan Rosenthal, M.Ed.
Susan serves as the Coordinator and co-facilitator of the LEADNow! Leadership Institute. She is the creator of LEADNow's New to the Principalship Mentoring Program and LEADNow's Virtual Coaching Program. Prior to joining the county office, Susan spent 30 years in the Catalina Foothills School District. She served 11 years as a school administrator serving at the middle and high school levels. She also created the Beginning Teacher Assistance Program and the Career Ladder Instructional Support Program for new teachers. Upon retiring, she has mentored new administrators in her former district and throughout the state.

Looking for ongoing coaching/mentoring? Did you like the resources you received by participating in the LEADNow! Institute? Then this is the option for you… We will now be offering Virtual Coaching to former LEADNow! Leaders by sending resources and providing one-on-one check-ins to continue supporting new leaders as they implement the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders 2015 and apply professional practice, concepts and values in leadership and policy.
