Flowing Wells STEMAZing Teacher Leader Program
Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation pledges to support two-year program

Tucson, AZ –The STEMAZing Project, a program of the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office, is excited to announce a new teacher leader program with the Flowing Wells Unified School District. The project, primarily funded by the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation, will impact every single student in the Flowing Wells School District. Sarah Smallhouse, the Foundation’s President, commented “In this time of tight budgets, we must concentrate dollars on the most impactful means to improve the classroom experience for our kids. We believe investing in STEM teacher leaders is exactly that type of investment.”

This will be the first time the STEMAZing Teacher Leader Program will be implemented with a specific district. Twenty Flowing Wells educators have been selected to launch the program on January 29 at 7:30 am at the Flowing Wells Professional Development Center.

“With the new Arizona State Science Standards adopted, this program will give teachers and students in Flowing Wells a huge head start shifting science instruction to not just meet but exceed those standards,” said DaNel Hogan, Director of The STEMAZing Project.

“Flowing Wells is excited to partner with the Pima County School Superintendent's Office to build a comprehensive, aligned pre-K through 12th grade approach to STEM education. Flowing Wells is very fortunate to have trust and financial support from the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation to bring together incredible educators who will create outstanding learning opportunities for students," said Superintendent Dr. David Baker, Flowing Wells Unified School District.
