The STEMAZing Project announces cohort for Teacher Leader Program

Tucson, AZ (August 8, 2016) -The STEMAZing Project, a program of the Office of the Pima County School Superintendent, is pleased to announce it has selected eleven educators from Southern Arizona for the STEMAZing Teacher Leader Program (STLP). This program is funded with the generous support of the Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation.

"The Thomas R. Brown Family Foundation supports the Pima County STEMAZing Teacher Leader Program because it gives teachers fresh tools and methods in STEM education that they can both employ and share with colleagues. Through professional coaching, proven lesson plans, and affordable materials, this program creates new excitement and teacher-leaders who can take insights and learnings back to their schools to share with fellow teachers. The person at the front of the classroom is the heart of the learning environment; the more we support our STEM teachers, the better they will be, and the better STEM outcomes will be for Pima County students. STEMAZing is an innovative and systemic approach to improving STEM education in a practical, affordable way." said Sarah Smallhouse, President, Thomas R. Brown Foundations.

The STEMAZing Teacher Leader Program will mentor and develop these eleven teacher leaders to positively impact STEM education through the research, design, and development of workshops for fellow educators. This program provides the selected Teacher Leaders with an avenue for developing their leadership skills, sharing their expertise, increasing their sense of value, and impacting the STEM culture within their own schools/districts.
