Congratulations to our 2020 Champion: Amiya Lotun, 8th grade, BASIS Oro Valley.

P-E-N-I-C-I-L-L-I-N! That was the winning word at the 2020 Pima County Spelling Bee! Congratulations to our Champion Amiya Lotun, 8th grade, BASIS Oro Valley. Amiya and runner-up Coby Jeck, 5th grade, Tucson Hebrew Academy will represent Pima County at the 2020 Arizona State Spelling Bee on March 21! 3rd place finisher Bryan Zhang, 7th grade, Catalina Foothills School District will act as the alternate for the state bee!

Pima County's got talent! We had one of our largest spelling bee's yet with 42 spellers qualify from across 27 different organizations. The spelling bee lasted nearly 4 hours as the students brought their A game!

Thank you to our pronouncer Lupita Chavez and our judges Nathan Bacal, Carol O'Connor, and Vanessa Zuber. Thank you to our sponsors Tuller Trophy & Awards and Historic Fourth Avenue! We also want to thank our host this year... Catalina High School and the Tucson Unified School District!
